Nicodemus was a Pharisee and a religious leader and is mentioned in the Gospel of John. In John, chapter 3, Nicodemus asks Jesus what it means to be "born again." Later, in chapter 7, he defends Jesus during a proceeding involving religious leaders. And finally, in chapter 19, he cooperates with Joseph of Arimathea in the burial of Jesus.
