The Messiah would have a worldwide impact

The prophet Isaiah lived about 700 years before the time of Jesus. He delivered many prophecies about a Messiah. Isaiah said that the Messiah, who ultimately will be the one to restore Israel, also would be "a light for the Gentiles" and that he would have an impact on the entire world, that it would be through him that God's salvation would be brought "to the ends of the earth:"

"It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth." - Isaiah 49:6.

The first religion to be evangelized to people worldwide was Christianity, which is comprised of the teachings of Jesus Christ. Even today, Christianity is still the only religion that has a significant presence on all six inhabited continents. Why is this significant? Because, Christianity literally has been brought "to the ends of the earth" and because the basis of Christianity literally is that Jesus is salvation.

Christians believe that salvation, the forgiveness of sins, and eternal life in heaven, are available to anyone who accepts Jesus Christ as their savior: "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." - Romans 10:9-10 (NIV translation).
